Necessity of a refrigerated air dryer

As important as air compressors that produce compressed air, management equipment to remove moisture and foreign substances contained in compressed air is also important. Unmanaged compressed air contains a large amount of water and foreign substances and flows along the pipe to generate condensed water due to collisions or temperature changes. Fine particles and oil should be removed through filters, and moisture generating condensate should be removed using refrigerated and adsorbed dryers. Condensate generated when moisture in compressed air is not properly removed causes pipe corrosion and malfunction and failure of valves or pneumatic equipment. Also, it is a cause of deteriorating the quality of the product and increasing the defect rate, so it must be removed.

Refrigerated dryers usually provide pressure dew points of 2 to 10°C (-22 to 17°C atmospheric pressure dew points), so they can be installed and used in general processes that do not require low dew points such as semiconductors, food and beverage, and constraints.

GSA's refrigerated dryer uses a high-efficiency aluminum heat exchanger to provide a stable dew point with excellent dehumidification performance due to its large heat exchange area and high efficiency compared to other types of heat exchangers.

The aluminum heat exchanger consists of three parts per body. It includes a primary heat exchanger for heat exchange between air and air, a secondary heat exchanger for heat exchange between air and refrigerant, and a separator to efficiently separate moisture from the compressed air cooled in the secondary heat exchanger.

The primary heat exchanger exchanges cold compressed air cooled from the secondary heat exchanger to the dew point with high-temperature compressed air introduced into the dryer to pre-cool the inlet air, reducing the load of the refrigerant compressor. In addition, the cold compressed air cooled to the dew point exchanges heat with the high-temperature inlet air temperature to increase the outlet temperature of the refrigerated air dryer to prevent condensation on the pipe. The separator to which the Demistor is attached efficiently separates condensate from the humid compressed air cooled in the secondary heat exchanger to improve dehumidification performance.
